il titolo poteva anche essere “iPad di Apple è il futuro degli editori“. Eh sì perché con questo iPad (→ presentazione) si aprono scenari nuovi.
Vediamo gli aspetti di novità:
- l’oggetto è bello, molto più bello del Kindle di Amazon o del Nook di Barnes & Noble (→ post Nook o Kindle)
- lo schermo è a colori
- come per altri oggetti belli (iPod, iPhone, MacBook) anche iPad avrà successo
- successo vuol dire utenti e, nel caso dell’iPad, utenti significa lettori
- Apple con iTunes ha fatto una straordinaria esperienza di micro-payments che oggi può travasare nella vendita di libri (vendita a capitolo, o a pagina) e di periodici (vendita a numero o a articolo): sul sito sono registrati 125 milioni di clienti che possono acquistare con la modalità “one click“. Già, Steve Jobs ha annunciato l’avvio di iBookstore con i primi 5 editori (Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon Schuster, Macmillan e Hachette).
NB: per i punti 3 e 4 ci vorrà qualche mese, il punto 5 è un dato di fatto.

Infine, iPad permette di ascoltare musica, vedere film, filmati su YouTube, foto e, udite udite, anche la TV (quest’ultimo aspetto sarà, per me, un potente dissuasivo all’acquisto).
Last but not least, l’oggetto è costosino: il modello da 64 Gb con connessione 3G a pagamento, costa 829$ e altri 360 $ all’anno per l’abbonamento a 3G.

While sometimes your idiocy puts a grin on my face, it’s beyond any doubt rather disturbing and, most importantly, leads to distraction. It’s like you shouting aloud your trash in a classroom. Would you really do that? Why you don’t even try to answer in kind? Comments have to stay on topic! You are supposed to add something to the conversation, not to hijack readers’ (students’) attention.
Now to cordef, I’m sorry for the rant, but I really think you should be less tolerant with this kind of participations, because legit comments from students deserve visibility, while the garbage has to be dumped!

In regards to the Apple product, just a few considerations for now:
– no multitasking (OMG, this is killing me! I could have stopped here.)
– more DRM: this device fits in Apple’s closed software ecosystem, say goodbye to your freedom (wow, this is even worse!)
– it lacks flash support so, as it stands now, no to 99% video streaming sites and no Wall Street Journal digital dashboard and alike…
– it has 4:3 screen (like your old tv)
– you’ll need adapters even to use USB ports
– the name also isn’t that good for english speakers (inspires feminine hygiene jokes)
– Glossy screen? E-Ink matte screen is by far superior for reading books and newspapers
– will be obsolete in 10 month, when the new version will come out
I’m not an Apple fan, I think it’s understood! :-P

“Aumentare le visite sul blog”? A dire il vero mi sembra una logica da piccolo cottimista (penso a piastrellisti e a montatori di interruttori elettrici a domicilio). Mi sfugge l’utilità di avere più visite se non un’auto-soddisfazione come in attività assai più manuali e piacevoli. Comunque, tutto ciò non fa che farmi rimpiangere l’epoca delle assemblee dove gli studenti più esibizionisti potevano sviluppare la propria art retorica e assurgere, passo passo, a cariche politiche sempre più gratificanti. Taluni di loro sono finiti assessori, capi di coop e altre strutture politico-economiche dedite prioritariamente al soddisfacimento dei personali interessi delle masse lavoratrici, incluso, l’acquisto di questi gadgets neo-capitalistici come ipod, ipad e iphone e ipopò (stimolatore digitale per stitici cui sta lavorando la nota casa di Cupertino).
